The Last Dinner Party add Sheffield to their upcoming headline tour
One of the most exciting British bands of the last few years, London five-piece The Last Dinner Party have added Sheffield to their upcoming UK tour in support of their new album, From The Pyre.
Playing The Octagon on Friday, 21st November, the date is part of a huge headline tour that sees the band perform across the UK, culminating in two shows at the O2 Academy in Brixton, with one having already sold out.
The tour is in support of the band’s second, album, From The Pyre, which is released on the 17th October, was produced by Markus Dravs, known for his work with Wolf Alice, Florence & The Machine, and Björk. The band had this to say about the album:
“‘From The Pyre’ is an allegorical place where these tales unfold, a space of violence and destruction but also regeneration, passion, and light,” the band explains. “The songs are character-driven but deeply personal too, everyday experiences pushed to the edge of fantasy. Being ghosted becomes a Western duel, heartbreak grins through the apocalypse. We filled the lyrics with rifles, saints, floods, Joan of Arc, and other vivid imagery that felt like the truest way to express how those emotions really felt. This one feels more raw, more earthy; it looks out at a vast, sublime landscape instead of sitting at a gilded dinner table. There’s a self-awareness to it too, a wink back at ourselves.”
Since their debut, The Last Dinner Party have picked up two BRIT Awards (including Breakthrough Artist of the Year), sold out nearly every show worldwide, including three nights at London’s Eventim Apollo, and become one of the most exciting new British bands in years. From The Pyre suggests that this momentum isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
